This photograph shows Arthur Conan Doyle in deep discussion with the British actor Eille Norwood.
Norwood was the iconic British actor playing Sherlock Holmes of his era. He appeared in many theatre and over twenty film productions in the 1920s. The films were silent and set in the time period contemporary to their production. They were made in England by Stoll and Co.
Doyle took a keen interest in the many dramatisations of his works.
This photograph is being shown in the exhibition, 'The Case of the Portsmouth Doctor' which is opening in Maizuru, Japan on the the 18th October 2008.
