Treasure of the Month - October 2014

ACD with Jasper Ball Club and Edson team in June 1914

By the time Arthur Conan Doyle and his wife Jean visited North America in May - July 1894, Conan Doyle had become a household name there, and his visit provoked much press interest. They travelled widely, visiting both USA and Canada, seeing New York and other cities, but also the Great Lakes and the Rockies. Conan Doyle was always interested in sport, and doubtless the baseball players in the photograph were delighted to have the famous writer in their midst!
